What is your educational background?
I have my BA in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as my teaching license in Early Childhood Education with an Elementary Education endorsement, which I received from Colorado State University. I also attended Semester At Sea through the University of Virginia.
What is your favorite subject?
What do you like best about teaching?
Teaching reading is my passion. It's an amazing feeling to watch a child learn how to read. The entire world opens up to them. I also try to integrate art into various areas whenever possible.
How do you prepare students to meet future challenges?
I encourage my students to solve their problems on their own, whether they are academic or social challenges. I believe this promotes independence and helps instill confidence in themselves for the future. They need to be given chances to solve problems on their own, and to learn what works in certain situations and what doesn't. Adults often feel the need to fix things for kids before they even have the chance to fix it themselves. They need to struggle. If there is no struggle, there is no progress.
