What is your favorite subject?

I really love teaching the books in ReadyGen. Students love these authors and get so excited about reading. We learn so much about the world around us through these texts. I come from a numbers background, however, so I also love helping kids realize how fun math can be.

What do you like best about teaching?

These young students have such positive attitudes. They love being at school and it is contagious. I am fascinated when listening to their points of view. They teach me something new every day; there is never a dull moment!

How do you prepare students to meet future challenges?

I teach my students that they are part of a community. They learn to see that each of them have diverse special gifts to contribute to our classroom. Together, they gather strength for challenges. Students strive to meet new challenges independently, but they also know that they are part of a larger community that will help them succeed. They know it's okay to struggle, that our whole classroom has their back.
