Welcome to Intervention! I support all students as they learn and grow. I help make sure our instruction matches the needs of each child by maintaining student instructional data and helping students make good decisions. We believe every child can learn at a high level, and MTSS is one way we support students individual academic and behavioral needs.

Colorado has adopted the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework as a continuum of effective academic and behavioral instruction that supports every student. MTSS is a whole-school prevention-based framework for improving learning outcomes for every student through a layered continuum of evidence-based practices and systems.

The 6 essential components we work through are the MTSS Foundational steps: Shared Leadership, Data-Based Problem Solving and Decision Making, Layered Continuum of Supports, Evidence-Based Instruction, Intervention, and Assessment Practices, Universal Screening and Progress Monitoring, Family, School, and Community Partnering.

 

What is your educational background?

Went to CU Denver for my undergrad in Elementary Education, and went to UNC where I completed my masters in Educational Leadership with a principal licensure. 

 

What is your favorite subject?

Literacy and Science 

 

What do you like best about teaching?

Everyday is a new adventure! I love building meaningful relationships with students, and challenging their thinking. Kids are naturally curious and I love to explore and learn with them every day. 

 

How do you prepare students to meet future challenges?

Being a teacher is so much more than just teaching the everyday academics. We also prepare students to be emotionally stable, kind and active citizens. It's so important to teach to the whole child to prepare them for future challenges.
