The art room is the place to exercise the right side of the brain and be creative. First, the students learn about the Elements of Art (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space) and the Principals of Design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, and unity). To inspire and challenge us, we study works of the Master Artists. We, then, express ourselves through various mediums: from pencil, sharpies, oil pastels and watercolor to copper engraving and clay.
Every year in the fall, parents have the opportunity to purchase a product from the Original Works Company with their child's artwork printed on it. Website: www.originalworks.com. This is a fundraiser for the art room, as well as a chance to buy very personal gifts. Every year in the spring, our school participates in the annual District Art Show. The Elementary, Middle, and High Schools exhibit their extraordinary examples of the year's artwork.
I welcome parent volunteers! I especially need helpers who could come in once a week or every other week to cut and organize for projects. In the spring, you could help to mat artwork. Extra hands with the kindergarteners is always appreciated. Help here and there is also needed! Thanks
